Pakistan Agriculture Research Council (PARC) hosted the fourth Climate Change Adaptation Policy & Science (CCAPS) conference from February 26th-27th, 2018 in Islamabad, Pakistan. CCAPS conference is a series of events held annually by HI-AWARE. The conference aimed to build a platform for adaptation and resilience research and facilitated exchange of knowledge and ideas on science, policy and good practices related to climate change adaptation in the Hindu-Kush Himalayan (HKH) region and especially in Indus-Ganges-Brahmaputra River Basins. The first, second and third CCAPS conferences were held in Kathmandu, Nepal in 2015, Delhi, India in 2016, and Dhaka Bangladesh in 2017 respectively.

This note describes the aims, background and set-up of Citizens-driven Science on Climate Adaptation (CISCAAs). A CISCAAs is a site, mostly village/urban neighbourhood, where adaptation practices and approaches are observed in a real life situations, involving the local community.

This seminar is the final stakeholder dissemination of HI-AWARE research in terms of policy, science and practices in the field held in Bangladesh. There will be also similar seminars in the partner countries in India, Pakistan and Nepal. The seminar was held the whole day on September 5, 2018 at the Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel, Dhaka, Bangladesh.

Pakistan Agricultural Research Council (PARC) conducted a stakeholder consultation workshop in Gilgit to consult local stakeholders for HI-AWARE’s planned work in high altitude areas of Gilgit Baltistan (GB), and to get feedback from the participants on effective research and development in GB.

The main objective of the workshop was to understand the potential adaptation options in response to extreme events such as floods, droughts and heavy precipitation. The prioritization was done under various categories under which the options were technological, social, ecological, structural and financial.

The Climate Change Adaptation Policy and Science (CCAPS) Conference held in Dhaka, Bangaldesh,on 6th February, 2017 brought together over 100 participants—HI-AWARE consortium members, partners, scientists, student researchers, and government and donor representatives—to discuss and take stock of the research generated within the initiative so far, and to chart a way forward.
