Farmer Managed Irrigation Systems at the Cross Roads
11 April 2017 - 11 April 2017, at Hotel Himalaya, Kupondol, Kathmandu
Contact Person: Anjal Prakash
Type: Seminar

Nepal is well known for its tradition of farmer managed irrigation systems (FMIS). In this system, farmers are collectively engaged in irrigated agricultural development as an enterprise. However, due to recent changes in the socio-ecological systems, FMIS has come under increased pressure. Some of the systems are defunct while others are facing problems in operation and maintenance.

In a series of talks, Anjal Prakash(ICIMOD), Pranita Bhushan Udas(ICIMOD), and Krity Shrestha(Practical Action), discuss issues linked ot gender, climate and socio-ecological challenges of these systems at the Sklyline Hall, Himalaya Hotel, Kathmandu.
